Wilmington YMCA Dia de los Muertos 5K Run/Walk

About this event

The Wilmington YMCA brings back its Día de los Muertos 5K Run/Walk and Youth 1K for a seventh year on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at Wilmington Waterfront Park. The community race blends fitness with cultural celebration, and the morning is designed for runners, walkers and families of every speed. Teams of friends, neighbors and coworkers are welcome too, so this is an easy race to turn into a group outing.

The 5K course is a 3.1-mile loop through the 30-acre waterfront park, and it is mostly flat and paved, which makes it friendly for first-timers. Little runners get their own spotlight in the Youth 1K at 9:00 a.m., followed by the 5K at 9:30 a.m. Around the race, families can expect live entertainment, face painting, local vendors and traditional altars that honor the spirit of Día de los Muertos.

Every registered participant receives a race T-shirt, a finisher's medal and post-race snacks. Proceeds help fund free and low-cost youth and family programs at the Wilmington YMCA, so your family's entry fee supports the local community. Plan to arrive early to park and warm up, since opening ceremonies begin at 8:30 a.m.
